Like Tolkien, the author of The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings, the writers of The Sims put a lot of time and effort into crafting a language for the games. Rather than hold full conversations, Sims will use set phrases based on the situation they're in, with common phrases such as "Sul sul" (Hello) and "Dag dag" (Goodbye) becoming recognizable to the player over time.

10 This Is Fine
A too real to life aspect of The Sims games is that things can and will eventually break over time. Especially household appliances like sinks, toilets, showers, etc. Now players can always make their Sims go and fix what's broken, which increases a Sim's Handiness Skill and gives them the option to upgrade the item. But for the most part, Sims will literally ignore broken things if it doesn't impact what they're trying to do. Most of the time a Sim will break something, see that it isn't working, walk off and then get annoyed later that it's broken.

Most people probably don't consider chess to be the most exciting game to play, but for Sims, it's one of the most interesting and intense events they could watch! Sims get really invested in a match, gasping in shock and clapping enthusiastically are a few of the interactions they have at watching a chess match. One of the things The Sims is most known for is the ability to create Sims that look however a player wants them to look. People have created Sims from popular media like books and games, famous actors and actresses and even themselves! And with mods that take character customization even further, there's no limit to what a Sim could look like, though sometimes there should be. With the right (or wrong) mods in place players can give their Sims pretty wacky features. And have it be considered totally normal to all other Sims.

While The Sims is a life simulator it has certain mechanics that aren't true to life. It's pretty easy to develop strong relationships, have a good job and even build a house. Though things like dishes and taking out the trash need to be done regularly or else a Sim will go around complaining about a bad smell. Though, no matter how many dirty dishes pile up around a Sim's house, they'll always have something to eat with. 3 Hold On Let Me Take A Selfie
Sims have a very interesting relationship with fire throughout the Sims series. They seem to deeply fear it and yet pay no attention to it at times. There have been plenty of instances of Sims freaking out and pointing at the flames, and of them carrying on with day to day activities despite everything being on fire. The Sims 4 continues on this hilarious tradition though there aren't any firefighters, and putting out the flame is entirely dependent on a Sim themselves. The only relationship more interesting than Sims and fire is Sims and pools. A pool with no ladder has been the cause of death for many Sims, often at the hands of their own creators! Sims have the intellect to become doctors and other skilled professionals but they can't figure out how to get out of a pool. With The Sims 4, they finally solved the greatest mystery of simkind and Sims learned how to pull themselves out of the water, to their benefit and players chagrin. Guess it's back to death by fire.

Music is a hobby that can turn into a profitable career, even in The Sims. Players who want their Sims to be real virtuosos can have them pick up an instrument to gain the Music Skill.
