Microsoft Flight Simulator has always allowed you to explore beautiful sights around the world but these were unexpected.

The technical brilliance of Microsoft Flight Simulator cannot be denied. Over the years the franchise has been tweaked and adjusted, resulting in some absolutely amazing sights. Social media is awash with beautiful scenic images of stunning locations across the world that make us want to visit them immediately.

However, due to the intensity of the game and the glitches that still remain in the technology, not everything is as it should be. As well as beautiful bridges and stunning vistas players have also discovered some unique interpretations of famous landmarks, as well as some entirely new ones. These are the funniest sights in Microsoft Simulator 2020.

Updated December 3, 2021, by Jerrad Wyche: Microsoft Flight Simulator came to the Xbox Series home consoles in 2021 and has allowed a whole new group of avian enthusiasts to experience the magic and splendor of flying around the world. Though the game displays all of the Earth's most beautiful sights, it's a video game at the end of the day, and even on Xbox consoles players are finding weird and hilarious glitches and bugs around the globe.

THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

12 Lukla Airport

This airport is super dangerous and sits in the middle of a valley in the Himalayan mountains. Since Microsoft Flight Simulator is a video game you and your friends can hold a comical contest where everyone tries to land on this almost impossibly small landing strip.

Watching a pilot with no stakes of actually dying trying their best to land giant aircraft on this narrow target is one of the easiest ways to laugh while playing the game.

11 Pyramids Of Giza

In the right context, the Pyramids of Giza are wondrous wonders of the world that can be breathtaking. The problem with them in Microsoft Flight Simulator is that the top-down view of the structures makes them look less like impossible structures and more like college-level photoshop projects.

Most of this is due to the land having little detail surrounding them, making their placement stick out like a sore thumb - or sore pyramid for that matter.

This screenshot of the Aircraft Museum in Monino in Russia taken by Wissam24 shows how the game's technology can interestingly interpret data it isn't sure what to do with.

We can see that the planes outside have been rendered into some unique-looking buildings. Extra images on the thread show plane-shaped roofs as well as a nice plane pattern shaped on the grass outside.

9 No Way Norway

via Reddit.com u/Pupetmaster64

This quirky image taken by Pupetmaster64 shows Norway isn't feeling too great today. While one player suggested the perfectly rational explanation of flying too low causing visual glitches we prefer the idea that the country is going through an "abstract art" phase.

We're still not quite sure what's going on. Is Norway becoming a giant jigsaw? Is this a portal to another dimension? Who knows? Whatever it is we're pretty sure it's not supposed to be there.

8 The North Melbourne Combine Citadel

via @AlexanderMuscat on Twitter

Captured in all its glory by Alexander Muscat, the Melbourne Citadel, also referred to as the obelisk, is the result of a typo made by a student named Nathan Wright when editing OpenStreetMap data.

The entering of 212 in a box that should have read two, meant the creation of this enormous skyscraper on the Australian landscape when the data was patched into the game. Sadly, it has now been removed but we'll never forget.

7 Buckingham Palace Has Gone Downhill

via reddit.com u/kraven420

If you've ever wanted to see Buckingham Palace and thought this was your chance then we've got some bad news to share. Looking at this image by Kraven420, it appears that the UK has gone downhill a little recently and things are somewhat different now.

The once-grand Buckingham Palace is now immortalized as a grim-looking tower block, with some bizarrely scaled houses and a tent taking pride of place where the Victoria Statue once stood. Presumably, this will be fixed going forward but for now, enjoy post-Brexit Britain in all its glory.

6 Palm Teeth

Via Twitter.com @haydencd

Flying through Southern California can become a slightly unnerving experience thanks to the "palm teeth" captured here by Hayden Dingman. A quirk of the game means that they cannot deal with palm trees, resulting in this chaos.

The iconic palms are replaced by these weird obelisks that look like teeth jutting out of the landscape. This is due to the way the game interprets the satellite data it uses but we prefer to think that California is biting back.

5 Keeping Score Of This Chaos

Fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars are in for some bad times if they take a trip down to the TIAA Bank Field Stadium. It appears that the entire thing has now been turned into apartments, at least that's how it appears on this image captured by Frank.

The roof does at least maintain a vaguely grassy hue, paying tribute to the stadium. You'll also spot the scoreboard that presumably remains to tally up the complaints about this new arrangement.

4 The Washington Monument(al) Tower

via twitter.com @daniellealberti

If you head over to Washington DC on a trip to see the Washington Monument, you'll instead be greeted by the Washington Monumentally large tower block, captured here by Danielle Alberti.

The iconic landmark is now a futuristic-looking tower building. Although it's great to see that the monument is somewhat preserved by the familiar-looking lawn decoration. We're also not entirely sure what's going on in the background either, since a building has appeared in the Mall.

3 Stolen Henge

via reddit.com u/PDelta42

Stonehenge is a British landmark that comprises large stones in a field, created long before the technology to easily place them this way was available. It appears that DeltaP42 has noticed that they are no longer around thanks to this bizarre glitch.

There are common conspiracy theories about the monument including that aliens brought down the stones and placed them. This image suggests that this may be true and the stones were simply a loan.

2 Roman Amphi-Warehouse

via reddit.com u/ghostofsatan

If you journey over to the ancient Roman amphitheater, Arènes de Nîmes, you'll discover this unique sight captured by GhostofSatan. The structure is now even more unique, having turned into a warehouse with some housing in the middle.

No longer are prisoners tortured by being eaten by lions for entertainment. Now they presumably have to live out their days in a giant windowless warehouse. We're not entirely sure which is worse.

1 The Portland Stunt Bridge

via twitter.com @haydencd

Portland may be used to unexplained phenomenon, being the setting of occult drama Grimm and all, but we bet no one prepared them for this sight. Here Hayden Dingman bravely flies by what appears to be some kind of stunt bridge.

Is the bridge a lie? Did they exchange it for the weirdest tunnel ever? Are those actual cars glued to the side or did they paint a bad mural so as not to arouse suspicion? Whatever is going on here I'm pretty sure it's not normal.
