After extensive repairs in Factory, the 29th MC-400 prototype (theres only 27 remaining after the plane crash as of 2013) took off from Factory airport on main island, headed towards Cliff on the Archipelago, with a 4x4 and a APC onboard, ready for delivery. Onboard were 5 crew members. A captain, first officer, flight engineer, camera operator and a loadmaster. Due to safety concerns, only two (camera operator and loadmaster) will be named as they are the only non experimental aircraft pilot. The camera operator is named Thibault, and he will be important for finding clues towards the demise of this aircraft later. He is with the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) and joined the mission voluntarily. The loadmaster is known as Ryan, and is part of the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force). Both are the only non-Americans on this flight. Although all pictures are classified, the NTSB has access to the pictures, but are not allowed to show to the public until further notices.
At 5 hours into the flight, there was a weird smell onboard the airplane. Whilst flying over Terminus, fire started to spread, and the crew tried to stop it. Their efforts would be in vain. The plane made a quick emergency landing at Cliff, since Terminus was too dangerous, as there are many planes there. All 5 crew members survived, but the plane was charred to the point beyond recognition.
Investigation into what caused this fire is still being investigated. The closest they could get is that there was some kind of overload on one of the systems, causing a fire, but its still speculation. Investigators are currently looking at all the recoverable pictures to find any hints of problems.
